About Spreading Your Wings: Therapeutic Upper Back and Shoulder Workshop
Shoulder injuries are quite common in yoga and generally come from a combination of overuse or poor alignment in weight bearing postures and bad postural habits. Since most of spend the majority of the day sitting in front of a computer, we tend to roll the shoulders forward and down, weakening many of the muscles of the upper back that we rely on when we are doing yoga. In order to reorganize the shoulders, heal injuries and prevent future injuries, we need to stretch the muscles of the shoulders and upper back first and then work on strengthening them while holding the shoulder joints in proper alignment.
